Now that you have learned the HVAC Basics, there are some additional pre-purchase factors that can influence your decision as well.

The higher the efficiency rating, the more energy and money you will save.

Armstrong Air heating and cooling equipment can deliver energy-efficient performance every day of the year. In fact, when compared to systems that are only a few years old, the savings can be substantial. The first thing you will want to look at is the energy efficiency for each set of products.

Heating Efficiency

AFUE stands for Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency and is a percentage measurement of the furnace’s heating efficiency. The U.S. government’s minimum efficiency level is 78% and the Canadian minimum is 90%, but Armstrong Air furnaces go all the way up to 97%. That means 97 cents of every dollar goes to efficient heating.

HSPF stands for Heating Seasonal Performance Factor and is a measurement of a heat pump’s heating efficiency. There is no governmental minimum efficiency level for HSPF.

Cooling Efficiency

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio and is a measurement of the efficiency of cooling products. The U.S. government’s minimum efficiency level is 13.0, but Armstrong Air cooling products exceed 18.0 SEER.

According to the EPA, the average household spends more than $2,200 a year on energy bills—and almost half of this expense is devoted to heating and cooling.

To help keep the planet as comfortable as our customers, Armstrong Air continually upgrades the technology used in select heating products to include more ENERGY STAR®rated equipment.

Established by the government to help consumers make more energy-efficient choices, the ENERGY STAR program is your assurance that the heating and cooling equipment you buy gives as much consideration to efficiency as it does to your comfort.

When you see the ENERGY STAR symbol, you know your Armstrong Air furnace includes advanced technology that will:

  • Significantly reduce your energy bills
  • Make you eligible for local utility energy efficiency and government incentive programs*
  • Lower your energy footprint so you can help preserve the environment

Your peace of mind is as important to us as your comfort. That’s why every Armstrong Air product is backed by warranties as robust and dependable as the products themselves.
